- Oil is designed to clean, cool and lubricate the metal surfaces of the engine – neglecting oil and filter changes may result in the deterioration of the engine’s internal parts, overheating and corrosion
- Change the oil and oil filter every 3,000 miles or as specified by the manufacturer – changing the oil without changing the filter can leave up to a quart of dirty oil to be recirculated into the engine

Purolator ML16817 Black Motorcycle Oil Filter (Pack of 2)
This filter is the only filter I will use on my 2003 Goldwing GL1800A. After serious research, for about a year, I have settled on this one. It is not wise to put a filter made for cars/trucks on a motorcycle. Often the filter material is so efficient, that a motorcycle oil pump will not hold up to the added pressure, where an auto oil pump will. Purolator even offers a warning on their website. [...]
Amazon offers the lowest price I’ve seen, with a free shipping option. I buy 6 at a time, always having one on the shelf when it is oil changing time.
